I've found whatever sonar/gps unit selected for a glass boat works equally well for metal boats. Vexilar offers the AlumaDucer transducer for shoot-through-the-hull aluminum boats, the only different thing I can imagine.

Which electronics are right for what boat?

A friend of mine has problems with his electronics, and he's running a Tracker 185. So, which electronics are best suited for aluminum boats, and which are best suited for fiberglass boats?
