Is anybody still using the chatterbaits? If so how are yall doing?

I have pretty much put them in the back of the tackle box until this fall. I haven't had much luck with them this summer.

I tried them a few times while pre-fishing for my tournament, but didnt have any luck.
I was using them, to fish stumps, up until a couple weeks ago, when the place I was fishing them at closed for the year. I havent been fishing much since then but am hoping to get out on my first day off and I will more than likely use a chatterbait at some point then. Admittedly though they are losing their "special" status that they had when I first got my hands on them.

After fishing the one you sent, Tex, for a solid week with no success, I put it in the truck, for this fall and the coming spring. Still waiting to get a fish on it. LOL >:D
They've been too good for me. It catches too many species equally well, like gar, chain pickerel, crappie, walleye, drum and of course bass. That means real trouble in a tournament, wasting too much time on the wrong kind of fish. In my case the gar are costing me some expensive lures, like those.

Gar on chatterbaits? wow! Id have never guessed.
They eat little fish all day long, and will ambush large fish that get too close. Alligator gar love catfish. So why not a chatterbait? You can figure on losing it one gar out of 3 on mono line. I began to fish it on a steel leader with no drop in bites, but have given up on it because of so many trash fish. Fun, but a big time waster.

Thats pretty cool! Ive caught quite a few gar around here but always on cut bait and always on purpose. They are a hoot to catch! Some jump like they think their tarpon lol
My personal best so far was 44 inches long and as big around as my thigh.
They've caught a few bass for me, but the pike wont leave them alone! Unbelievable. I can understand why though, they kind of look like a downsized bucktail when retreived.
If you want to stick to that bait, try making your own for a fraction of the originals. I made up all I used after losing the first 6 backordered from RAD for 6 months. I sure hated losing the last one.

Check it out. They fish the same, nearly vibarating the guides off your rod.
