We bought a house on the Miss. river in Elk River and I got some fishing in before it got cold in October. Caught a few smallmouth & 1 northern off the shore.

I have a jonboat and I'm planning on buying a small outboard to go along with it and exploring the river from Monticello back down to Elk River. What month will the water warm back up enough to stir some activity among the fish? I hate cold water fishing, I'm too impatient

If I'm not mistaken...the season will remain closed until the 2nd weekend in May for bass, walleye & pike.

At the same time though...I believe that the seasons for crappie, bluegill, rock bass & catfish are open year round.
