Well today was the best day i've ever had bass fishing! Went in the rim canal and Taylor creek, usually you can catch a decent amount of bass but nice 3-5pounders are kinda rare in this particular part of the canal. We launched at one of the only ramps that wont tear the trailer or boat up due to the drought conditions, we hit the water about 6:30 fooled around till daylight and started fishing some rip rap by a pump station when i got my first bite a typical dink. Went about a mile up and was fishing some laydowns when i got number 2 a 4 pounder on a gilly black/blue jig. Started throwin a Yo-zuri gold/black rattlin vibe when wham a 3+ hits it! Then i missed a nice one on the jig just didnt get a good hookset.Threw the trap some more got 2 more dinks thats when it got fun! Caught two nice keepers so Dad ties on a gold super spot and he gets a few. Then i see this perfect laydown on the other side of the canal it was screamin at me to pitch my jig to it so i did, and boated a 7 almost 8 pounder!Took a pic with my phone and let her go. Went back cross canal and Dad gets about a pound speckled perch on his spot, and i got another keeper. We're fishing this undercut rock ledge and what the bass were doing is getting in the undercut part and slaughtering the shad near the vegetation, so i positioned us where we could both cast out and retrieve in the same direction the shad were going when the bass were chasing them. After a little while i figured the bite was dying when i thought i got snagged on a rock when the rock started swimming off! She was stripping line off like it was cool i finally wore her out and boated her , almost 9 pounds! 8.75 to be exact but anyhow i think we ended up with 12 fish total 8 were keepers i think 5 fish would've been between 28 and 30 pounds. All in all i needed to have a good day and the Lord let me catch some nice fish! Dave p.s if my stupid phone will send the pictures to my online album i'll be posting the pics.
