The upcoming B.A.S.S. Elite tournament at the California Delta is a big bass tournament. The water is shallow, so fizzing isn't an issue. The big problem that faces C & R after the weigh in are sea lions. These animals are big, a male can be over 8' long and weigh up to 1,000 lbs. Sea lions have learned that bass tournaments release bass and they show up to wait for the release, or follow the release boats. A trophy size bass is an easy snack for these animals.

Wow never thought of that. I go up to the delta a least once a month. A few years back it was rare to one as far in as Stockton. Now I see them almost every trip. There are lots of T's in the delta wonder if they will come up with a solution to this.
I have seen them catch 30lb salmon. And they don`t care if you motor right up to them.We had one big male slap the side of the boat with his meal. The delta is a great place to fish but sometimes you release to the teeth.
