Hey Macbass, where you at? I live in Oakland County just around the corner from Proud Lake State Park. Thinking about the WaveCaster and giving it a try once the ice is out. I figure we should have ice out sometime around July 4th at the rate we are going. Dang, spring sure is slow to come around here this year.

I moved back here to MI after I retired from the Feds and after just a couple years in the state, I am still getting accustomed to the geopraphy of this penninsula. I have not yet fished the Det River or St. Clair, and I have not gotten out of Oakland and Livingston counties. We have hundreds of very good, albeit small lakes around here, that I have not explored. I just have not taken the time to get up north yet. All things in due time I guess.

Now that the economy of this state seems to be permanently in the tank, I think I will start looking further north for a cabin or a lake lot. I hear there are some bargains out there to be had from people bailing out.

tried 3 different areas with the SPRO swim-bait and no luck, but it was fun to use.
Pillman, I have not had a great deal of success with swimbaits up here. I have tried a variety of them rigged different ways, and just don't seem to get much on them. Don't know if it is me or the bait. I suspect it is me, but I catch OK on other baits, just not the swimmers.

Macbass, I will be at Novi also. Booth 1358? Who/what are you representing?

I am looking for a new row boat. I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in baits, line, rods, reels, tackle, hooks, or anything else related to fishing - honest!!!

I will look you up!

macbass, I will positively look you up. I will probably be there bright and early on Day #1. Like I said, I have to make the rounds of the boat guys to see if I can get a deal on a 14' rowboat. Right now, I'm leaning toward a Lund from a dealer in Jackson. However, I am open to others. Anyhoo, I'll swing by B 1358 and give you a shout.

So I met macbass yesterday at the Fishing Expo and he is just a great guy. He had a number of tables with his tubes (which are just outstanding!), some other great plastics, jig for tubes, WaveCast reels and stuff like that. I got loaded up with some outstanding tubes and jigs. Denny gave me a brief seminar on how he uses these for best results - which basically is to just slow it down. Seems that I have been ripping the tubes too much. He recommended just twitching them now and again. Short hop and pop, and then let them sit for a while. Almost a deadsticking approach to tubes.

I don't know about the rest of you guys and what deals you get, but I got 10 packs of tubes (10 per package) for $30. Can't beat that with a stick.

I had a great time and it was wonderful to meet a member of the board.

Pillman, I'm sorry I missed meeting you by a day at the show. Please stay in touch and perhaps we can get together to catch something later on this year. When you can't walk on the water.....ice, I'm just saying....

pillman, that is way too far west for me. I have seen the lake map, but I have not fished it or anything on the western side of the state. Can't help you with this information unfortunately.

Hey Pill, thanks for the heads' up...I forgot the fishing show was next week. Macbass always has a good table, especially on the first day when he has time to talk to everybody who walks by. I must have gone through 10 packs of his tubes last year. Damn Pike.

Stop by to see what my friends from KD Outdoors has exhibited. They always seem to have something new to show to the crowd.

Pill, except for the Huron River channel in the middle of the lake, you could drive a freight train across the ice. I see the icers out there with power augers to open holes. They are going to freeze their bippies off if they go out there today (currently 10*.)

Good luck up there at Anchor Bay. You going for Perch?

Mac, I don't see anything on the Wonderland website calendar for those dates. Are you doing a solo exhibit or is Wonderland sponsoring a show?

OK Mac, I'll put it in my calendar. I hope I can make it.

By the way, I caught my biggest on one of your tubes last year. A 6+ lb pre-spawn Smallie.

Pill, here is a link:

http://www.wonderlandmarinewest.com/

It's in Howell on E. Grand River. Take M-59 west to G.R. The link has directions. It's right next door to one of the Wilson Marine stores. The Wilson Marine repair shop is behind both of these locations.

fished around the Selfridge launch today and caught 1 white perch
Nice. I haven't caught anything since September when I decommissioned the fleet. I am so damned hungry for April that I can't stand it.
