Hey Macbass, where you at? I live in Oakland County just around the corner from Proud Lake State Park. Thinking about the WaveCaster and giving it a try once the ice is out. I figure we should have ice out sometime around July 4th at the rate we are going. Dang, spring sure is slow to come around here this year.
hawghunter I live west of lansing about 15 miles but I do make a few trips every year to the detroit river in the spring then teh rest of the time I am usually up north around martiny flooding or chippewa lake mecosta lake hardy pond wixom and sanford
I moved back here to MI after I retired from the Feds and after just a couple years in the state, I am still getting accustomed to the geopraphy of this penninsula. I have not yet fished the Det River or St. Clair, and I have not gotten out of Oakland and Livingston counties. We have hundreds of very good, albeit small lakes around here, that I have not explored. I just have not taken the time to get up north yet. All things in due time I guess.

Now that the economy of this state seems to be permanently in the tank, I think I will start looking further north for a cabin or a lake lot. I hear there are some bargains out there to be had from people bailing out.
I agree with that but still water front property in this state is at a premium.. But if you want to get north fishing either post it or pm me I usually go every weekend during the summer. maybe we can hook up and get a little fishing in.
Thanks for the offer - sounds good. I'll give you a shout when the weather and the ice clears up. :thumbup01:
I'm in MI also near Lansing. I'm guessing we fish some tourneys against each other macbass since you named most of the lakes I fish. I've been offline for awhile (3 month old at home), but I'll be around here more often now. Just got back from the UP, Milakokia Lake. I only caught 1 non 6 inch perch the whole 5 days. It was a 4 1/2 lb smallie. I tried jigs, grubs, pop r's, stick baits, crankbaits, and spin baits of varying colors and depths with no luck. 2nd to last night I was messing around with my trout rod (ultra light linghtning rod with 4 lb test) with a mepps #2 rainbow trout spinner and causght it on the 2nd cast in 8 ft of water on top of a weedbed while standing waistdeep in the water next to our dock. I fought it for about 10 minutes before i finally got it to shore. I'm sure I'll see you around in the next few months up north (Mecosta, Martini, and Cadillac-Mitchell).

Lips
i have a tourny on mecosta saturday and on martiny sunday this weekend and again on mecosta next weekend just sunday and then I will be up there all week and fish 4 or 5 tournys during the week
I'm guessing you won't be much help to me on Chippewa inlate August then, lol. I'll see you next Sunday on Mecosta :) Hopefully we won't be competing for the same fish.
hey, MacBass, just came over from NAFC. I'm 20 minutes from Lake St Clair. :thumbup01:

Thanks all! I as well am from NAFC and both pillman and I met up in the UP in Gwinn, MI along with many others. I'm known as PiscesMonkey there! I enjoy meeting new fishing folks young and old.
bassin monkey does this put you in the kalamazoo area or farther north. I live about 30 miles east of grand rapids
Yes I'am in Kalamazoo CO itself kitty corner to the Parchment paper factory which closed some years ago. There is a river just behind my home as some shops too.
Hawghunter, have you tried Lakeville Lake yet. It's a few miles north of Rochester. But ya really need a boat to fish it. You're invited to our get-together at Metro Beach Park for the bass C&R opener April 26. I'll get ya more info if ya need it
fished around Metro Beach Park today and got 7 fish total. 1 rock bass, 2 smallies and 4 largemouths. was shorefishing and got one of the smallies on a rebel pop-r. cought 3 of the largemouths on Hawgpours sticks.
