Are these things that much better than bombers/rapalas to justify their steep prices? The least expensive one in Cabela's is 14 bucks.

I have won my share on the LC American Shad color...especially the LV 500 lipless. You can catch fish running down the shoreline behind people throwing all matter of bait and pick them off right and left. There are very few boxes that stay on my boat no matter where I fish...the LC boxes are some of them...I have WAY too much money invested in them! ;D

Heres a true story that may convince you how "worth it" lucky craft are.

I was fishing with a guy up in Delaware on the Sassafras River. He had a Lucky Craft RC 1.5 (a Bass Pro Shops Exclusive) tied to his line. Where we were fishing had some pretty clear water and the guy I was with and I were discussing the bait he had on. I was watching the bait in the water when a small bass quickly swam into the scene with right behind it, in pursuit. However, the bass, while chasing the baitfish, caught a glimpse of the Lucky Craft RC 1.5. The bass did a complete U turn, disregarding the REAL fish he was after, and nailed the lure. The whole scene I described happened in a matter of seconds.
I was so amazed I could barely believe what I had witnessed and had someone told me the same story Id have told them they were full of it.

To see that bass choose a lure over the real fish was mind boggling. Ever since then I have been a true believer in the thought that Lucky Craft ARE worth every cent.

Ms American Shad is definitely an awesome color! The color of the bait in the story above was Purple Shad, another awesome color.

Can you guys send me a link to there web site? Another thing, can yall also recommend a style of bait to get? If I can go out and buy a chatterbait then I surely can try a LC bait. LOL

I just got jumped by 3 baitmonkeys (Lake city, nwgabassmaster, and Fishing Coach). They are now traveling in herds. HELP!!

If yall could only carry 4 LC lures which ones would you take?  Please state the name of the bait and color if possible.  Thanks in advance.

Well, this Tropical Storm Ernesto must of messed me up.( its my story and im sticking to it lol )
I swung by the Clermont Bait & Tackle store today to get me some more superline 3/0 ewg gammy hooks. That baitmonkey must of been in my hip pocket. Before I knew what had happened I had a Lucky Craft 78 SP:  ( 3"; 3/8 oz; suspends at 2'-3' ) in the color of AURORA BLACK which is # 52 at BPS.

I got to admit I was ( am ) very impressed with it. I put that bad boy on a spare pole and watched it in my pool. Talk about action and suspending ability. I got tired of waiting on it to surface lol.

Also got a spook jr. but seeing this for L.C. only .. I will bite my lip  lol

LMAO Love your story! Cursed bait monkey! lol

Thats an awesome looking bait Rodney!

I too have the RC `1.5  but I have it in Miss American Shad. I want to also get it in Purple Shad.  The only other Lucky Craft baits I have besides the RC 1.5 is the Sammie.
I love the finish of all the lucky craft baits. They are second to none.

I love the action and colors of the Pointers. Three must-haves are aurora black, chartreuse shad, and ghost minnow. Also, the Staysee is unbeatable for winter fishing. However, I aint been impressed with the sammy. I get much better action with the spook. Ihaven't tried any of their regular cranks.
sounds like a trip to bass pro shops to me. ::) ;)

Well, I would have to say NO THEY ARE NOT! These are not hand made baits and therefore are completely overpriced. In fact, I have had someone recently in my boat who has all sorts of expensive lures Lucky Craft, mega bass etc. We were fishing the Stick Marsh and he was using a jointed Lucky Craft lure maybe a pointer? I was using a cheap $2 jointed minnow bait called a water snake made by www.enlure.com anyway, he never got a bite and I caught 3 on mine. We were not fishing a bank either as we were offshore in wood flats. So no way for me to be front ending him.

I love this water snake by Enlure. I have caught allot of fish on it in Garcia also. Anyway, I am not convinced that Lucky Craft is a superior bait at all. It is molded plastic and painted like many other lures are. They just have a better marketing gimmick then others. I guess when a company comes out with an expensive lure then some folks think well they must be a better lure or else why would they charge so much? haha. Yep gotta love marketing. ;)

I am not saying they are bad lures. They are not. They are great lures. I have owned 2 of them. 1 is a Sammy 100 and the other was a top water prop bait. Can't remember the name. Both of them caught me fish and both of them had the paint come off just like any other cheaper bait would have. Where they worth $18 for me? NO. I could have caught just as many fish on a Devil's horse and a Zara Spook then I did on those 2 over priced lures.

Same reason I refuse to buy Senko's by GYCB anymore. He can have them because I will not be paying $6-$8 per 10 when I can buy Alluring baits for half that and catch just as many fish on those.

Also, having $20 lures and afraid to throw them is sort of counter productive isn't it? I mean, who wants to tie on a $20 lure only to have a toothy critter, Pickerel, gar, musky etc bite it off? Not me. I am happy with $5-$6 crankbaits.

Not everything is you get what you pay for. Sometimes it is you pay for it and then boy do you get it. ;D

I've looked in hundreds of tackleboxes while working on the launch ramps, picking out go-tos for visitors not accustomed to Lake Ouachita, and might have seen a total of a dozen LCs. So here that's still one most bass have probably never seen. That makes even older LCs a new look for bass, and that alone makes it a good choice. I fish a half dozen models, mostly Sammys, one live pointer, and have done well with them. The Sammy is much easier to walk-the-dog with and sometimes bass like its swagger better than a Spook. I suspect I'd catch more bass if I switched 100% to those, but catching more isn't a goal. All I need are 2-3 two pounders to take home.

Switching would cost a bundle, and at the rate I lose crankbaits my fishing would get pretty expensive. I don't mind breaking off a few $3 lures a day. But if my living depended on high points I'd give LCs a serious try. To get the most out of them practice in a swimming pool to learn exactly what each lure wants from you. They are peculiar compared to other lures, and to me they come with hooks too small for my liking, so I replace them unless larger hooks mess them up.

Pitted against an experienced angler using his proven confidence lures you could still fall behind using LCs if you are not really familiar with them. That's just it with those. Folks might spring for a few them guard them too closely, never fishing them where they need to go. In that case they will never get the experience needed, and those will never become confidence lures.

Up here on the lake of the ozarks the fish take a steady diet of jerk baits I like the LCs because not every body has them. The fish don't see them as much and they have a more brillant finish. There are guys who hand paint the rouges which are as durable as egg shells and then sell them for a hell of a price. There are differences in LC as I am learning tho I really like the flash minnow because it suspends better than any other bait I have ever owned but all LCs don't suspend and I got hooked up on the next two I bought over colors and not what it does!

I swear by LC Pointers. I ain't skeered to lose one, and they have been more producyive for me than any other brand. I still like Rappys for topwater, but the action of the pointer is better than any other suspending jerkbait. My PB spotted bass (weighed 5-6 lbs) hit a pointer 78 aurora black. ;)
