Got to go fishing today and boy what a day. My dad and I went to Little Pee Dee State park which is just on the Dillon side of the Marion, Dillon county line. We left the house around 1:30 pm and got there and put in around 2:00pm. This lake is covered in lily pads so basicly the only thing you could fish was a jig or a weedless topwater bait. I have absolutley no confidence in my ability with a jig(any advice is welcome on the use of a jig) so I opted for a Scum Frog Trophy series, white with red and white skirts. This is my first time using a frog so I just popped it across the lily pads to make it look like a frog swimmimg/hopping. Within the first 30 minutes of being there I caught my record Bass. I don't have a set of quality scales but I will have a set tomorrow so I will let yall know the official weight tomorrow. My guesstimation on the weight is probably 6, 6.5 lbs. When he hit it if felt like I was fighting a brick wall plus he was right in the middle of lilly pads. The pads were so thick that we had to go to him for fear of him breaking the line. I can't descride the feeling I had when I saw this fish. It was great. I am definitley hooked for life, no doubt. Here are some pics of him.

That right there is a gorgeous bass. It should be a tad bigger, but I would say that 6 is a safe bet for the weight. Had it been during the spawn, it would probably be 7-8 lbs.

What would you like to know about jigs? I have fished them for a long time, over 8 years, and I have a few tricks. My best suggestion is to get the KVD DVD "Pitching To Heavy Hitters" and watch it over and over. Watch it through the first time and take notes the next time.

Great fish! Keep the reports coming!

Thanks, where would I find that DVD? I would like to get it. I will get my scales tomorrow so I will let you know then. Thanks again.

Bass Pro Shops. Either go to your nearest store, or order it through the net or magazine. It's $10 for the DVD, which is way cheap for the information that it has! Another good one is Wormin' With Woo Daves. ;)

Ok thanks for the info. I will have to look into those.Thanks.

Not a problem. He doesn't got into specifics about which heads to use in different locations. So, if after you watch the DVD, and get the information from that, and you still have questions, feel free to ask them. ;)

Ok thanks. It is good to know that I have somewhere to go to ask questions.

That's a beautiful fish you got there Robbie! I haven't fished that place yet but looks like I need to sometime ;)
I plan to add a report in the SC forum so yall can check that out. They got it now where it costs $2 per adult to get in. The lake is covered in lily pads so I would suggest weedless topwater. I used the scum frog and I caught this fish and had two or three others explode on it but I missed them. I told everyone that I would let yall know the official weight on this fish and he ended up weighing in at 5.25 lbs. I was guessing bigger but I will take it. Still my personal record. ;D

That's still a good bass, no matter where you go. If the boys that fished the G-ville tournament would have caught an average of that fish, they would have had a little over 26 lbs. The winning weight was 18 lbs., so that tells you that's a quality fish.

Next time you head out there, get some pics of where you are fishing and of the cover that you are fishing. I know that I love looking at different pics of where we all fish.
Will do. When I get them I will post them in the SC forum. I will probably be there next weekend.Good luck and Good fishing.

I am going to wait and do my report on LPD State park when I get my Pics and other info from the park rangers. I'm sure I can get more info on the lake from them along with my opinion and discoveries of the fishing.Tight lines everyone and good luck.
