How many of yall use a line ' conditioner ' ? Im talking about something like Reel Magic to help get rid of memory.

I have seen KVD has a product out on the market , but I have yet to try it.

I keep a can of Reel Magic in the boat and when I think about it, I will spray my spool of line.

Ive used reel magic... and I will tell ya what... its great for stopping a squeaky seat pole LOL! I honestly never noticed too much difference with the casting of my reels tho after using it. have you Rodney?

I think I would like to try KVD's stuff sometime though.

To be completely honest, neither have I.
I reckon thats why I only do it when I THINK about it. ( I figure in my mind, what the heck and spray it lol )

I have used both and both make a difference when I am casting. But lately, I have been mostly braid so I haven't been using any of them. KVD's product is also to be used on lures too. It is also water based not oil based. I think it is better then Reel Magic or Real Magic. I have actually seen it spelled both ways :)

I have never used a "line" conditioner. Until I see personally that I need it, I'm not going to waste my money on it.

My wife has alot of hair conditioners. Will that work the same?? LOL :rofl1:

I use and recommend a product called Tangle Free line dressing, it comes in a small squeeze bottle that I keep in my pocket when fishing with fluorocarbon lines or using a spinning reel. Reel Magic is an aerosol, messy and doesn't work well for me. I have used this product for several years and it is the best available on the market today.
If you use fluorocarbon line, you need a line dressing applied several times during the days fishing. Fluoro is water proof and has high memory, therefor jumps off the reel spool causing backlashes or tangles. Line dressing keeps the fluoro lubricated and helps to prevent the line from springing off the spool.

Ps; Google Tangle Free and you should be able to locate a local supplier. It's about$5 for a 2 ounce bottle. One drop goes a long way however and a bottle lasts me several months, because you only put a drop at a time on the spooled line.

I use the reel magic in a pump. I hit my reels first thing in the morning after a long cast. you need to be careful though as it will lube the handle on your rod also. I use it on my guns and on my bow to silence them w/o the scent. I posted earlier about spraying my soft plastics down with it to keep them from getting gummy. The name was changed from reel magic to real magic because of the versatility of the product. Jimmy Houston Endorses the product and if you watch his show he almost always uses it.

Drew,
You should be using Break Free to lubricate your guns and reels, not Real Magic.
A good friend of mine makes a very good living repairing both guns and reels and he tells me that 2 products are the cause of most damage; WD-40 and Real Magic. Both are solvents, not lubricants, and gum up the moving parts.

I've been using Reel Magic for the last two years and it seems to be ok. I saw the KVD brand and it was priced a bit high. I know sooner or later I'll try it because "it's there". I seem to be a complete sucker for new stuff!! :rofl1:

CLANK! That was the sound of my can of Reel Magic hitting the inside of my trash can and banging into those empty Busch cans which reside there :rofl1: :rofl1: Now I gotta go get me some new "stuff" to replace it. :thumbup01: Thanks, Tom, for the info.

Problem with Reel Magic or any silicone spray lubricant is that it washes off in a couple of cast. So any benefit is very short lived. I have been using KVD for about 2 years and won't be without it. Go to their website, they give a good run down on what it is and why it is so much better than the other silicone sprays. I also order their 4 bottle special, it is the best price I have found. A 4 bottle order will last me over a year and I fish 3-4 days a week and treat 5-6 rigs each trip. It makes the 20 Lb Fluoro I use very managable which to me is the true test.

I use reel magic too and really like it , but I just recently bought my first pump bottles , , , , and it will take some getting used to it is super easy to really slicker up your handle & crank if not careful , :dunno: not reel sure but I think that I like the aerosol better , do not seem to have ever had this problem before :sad2: but it might just take some time.I am sure to like it as well as the original .May try KVD's too and see the difference. :thumbup01:
