Got my riding mower out yesterday to get it ready to start mowing the grass ( weeds lol ) . Seen the battery was coroded up bad etc.. so I went and got a new battery for it. I put the electrolite in it and tried to start the mower. Didnt work, so I put it on a 6 volt charger . still nothing... Every once in awhile I'd switch it to 12 volts to give it more power. Either that new battery isnt any good, or I burnt something up in it when I switched to 12 volts. all I get is a clicking sound when I turn the key.

So, im getting ready to take the battery back and see if they can test it for me . if its good, I reckon I got to find me a lawnmower mechanic.

Did you clean out the connectors that hit the battery? I was having the same problem with my truck, and the battery was only 6 months old. The positive terminal was corroded, and even when I cleaned it, the corrosion came back. Then, I saw that the positive terminal was broken.

I replaced that, and sure enough, I haven't had problems with it cranking anymore. I had a problem with the connector breaking, though. Guess that battery is a lively little thing. ;D

Latest on my battery situation.. The second battery I got was a dud also.
This time I asked them to do everything and I will pick it up. So here in a bit I got to go check on it.

Man, I would be going elsewhere to get a battery then. 2 duds in a row is not a good proposition for a place selling batteries. I would get ticked.

Well, as the saying goes.. Things come in 3s !!! Can you believe I got 3 DUDS !!!!! The manager finaly gave me my money back . So, I went to NAPA since it was a NAPA battery to start with . My cousin works there so I got the family discount ( I didnt know she worked there or I would of went there first ) . So knock on wood this one works !!

Soon as it works I will go back to Discount and tell them the GOOD NEWS lol rofl

The good sign was the charger needle moved when I put it on, the other 2 batteries from Discount never did move from the get go.

Got to take it off charger about 6:30 am tomorrow, Then try it out when I get back from taking my wife to meet her ride for a day of scrapbooking lol. ( and before I go to my club BBQ )

I hate a 6 volt battery, having to mix the acid in and charge it up....

The lawnmower from ___ is running like a top now. Should of went to NAPA to start with for the battery.... Im guessing Discount Auto got a bad batch of 6 volt batteries in . I will swing by there to let them know the Napa battery worked. ( unlike the 3 I got from discount auto )

Just waiting on the new blade to get in now. ( probably tomorrow )

Why on God's green earth did I get my lawnmower working. I spent part of yesterday and today mowing my yard and my neighbor's yard. lol ( Its like a dust bowl around here, very dry.. But had to get the weeds knocked down )

We have 1 1/2 lots and my neighbor has 2 1/2 lots. I didnt use the trimmer in her yard, my back was hurting to much to do it.

I started mowing her yard last year when her husband got sick and eventualy died. He was a super nice guy and always helped me if I needed anything. Him and my dad was masonic lodge brothers and been our neighbors since about 1978.

We got a new push mower. We hadn't mowed grass in 2 weeks, and the mower we were getting from my aunt was broken, and so, we got a brand new Troy-Bilt mower. Those first two days were murder. Now that it's back down to managable height, it's a breeze. ;D
