Fished ABA event on Harris on Saturday. I did OK stayed in one area most of the day flipping/pitching to Kissimmee grass and reeds. Stayed on hardbotom and avoided muddy areas. Did the best around grass points and areas where residential canals feed back into the lake. I was culling around 11 and finished with a little over 10 lbs for a 8th place finish out of 42 anglers. Water was stained, not much wind but the bite was better when the wind blew. Water in 65 to 67 range and the grass edges were in the 4 to 5ft area. I lost two very good fish that wrapped me up and broke off my 30lb braid. No luck at all at the first break line or deepe. The fish were very light colored as if they were just moving in out of deeper water. Biggest fish was just shy of 4lbs.

Been trying braid in heavy grass areas. I was using a 7'6" stick to get further back in some of the grass holes. The bite was real soft. You really did not know they were there until you shook the worm and there was a different feel or heaviness. You set the hook and all heck broke loose. The two I lost had to be huge as when I felt them and set the hook, I could not move them to the top of the grass before they had wrapped me around the Kissimmee grass and reeds. I also saw some muscle shells and that could have cut the line as well. Neat day, but still humbled when others brought in heavier sacks

Nice outing anyway TCB.

Yep, braid and mussels do not go well together. See my post about braid and how it is not as abbrassive resistant as reported. Now in grass braid is king. Around sharp object fooget about it. ;)
