Has anyone heard any news about Lake Fork lake levels possibly being dropped to supply water elsewhere now? I hope that this is not true! That would be horrible! Is no fishery safe from the money grubbin scoundrels out there????

Yep Jared, they have been building a pipeline for several years now. They built a pipeline to a water treatment plant that is a watter supply for DFW.

The lake was lower in the past few years there then I think anyone can remember. They said it was 5 feet low at one point. Most of that was attributed to the drought Texas had for a while. They can really lower that lake to if they needed to. Currently Lake Tawakoni is a large reservoir near to Fork that is also a water supply for Dallas.

I was living there when this all came down and it ruffled a few feathers for sure.

Here are a few links about it: http://www.sratx.org/projects/lfp.asp

Lake Fork was built to supply water to surrounding towns, near and far. That lake was not built for a fishery, but has become that now. I don't think there is anything to worry about right now as long as we stay away from another terrible drought.

If we get another drought like we did last year we are going to be in some trouble. But on a high note, our winters usually bring us back up, like it did this year.
