I dont know about anything else you are asking but what i have noticed in the past is that when water levels drop that rapidly quite often bass will assume the end is near and gorge themselves. Atleast thats how it seemed on the couple places I have fished when the water was dropping quick.
Also, when the water is very low, like you mentioned, I think its almost unfair (not literally hehe) fishing because the fish are all so much more concentrated. With levels that low the fishing could be amazing! Wait till it comes back up to! The vegetation that grows on the exposed shores will be do amazing things for the fishing once the levels come back up.
Also, if you can do it, video the lake while its low... mark places on gps if you have a hand held... and photograph the really interesting features while at the same time marking the location of the image on your map and gps. When it rises again you will have one heckuva advantage over the other anglers.. atleast those who didnt do what you did, because I am sure there will be a few who will do exactly what I just suggested. I actually got the GPS idea from Ouachita (Jim) Ive always photographed and sketched. Im dieing for a handheld gps now so I can walk low level lakes and mark waypoints like a madman lol
