I got some questions on the SAMMY 100 . I broke down and bought one the other day after hearing how good, great etc.. they are. ( Not sure what size people rave about, but I got the 100 )

I have gotten pretty good with the SPOOK jr. for walking the dog. ( been practicng everyday in my pool ) ....( which is about the same size as the Sammy 100 )

Now, I try the Sammy 100 and I CANT get it to walk the dog !! I am wondering if it is defective ? The reason im asking this is because it sits in the water almost vertical ( up and down ), not horizontal like a SPOOK jr. I have the color  Ghost Minnow , so I can see the ball bearings in it. It is weighted more near the rear then the front. I tried with a palomar and with a loop knot.( like I said no problems with the Spook jr. with either knot )

Seeing as I have never ever owned or used a SAMMY before this one, I do not know how it is suppose to be in the water. Maybe it suppose to be vertical and a different technique is used to make it walk the dog ??? Because the way I get the SPOOK jr. to walk will not work on this lure !! ( Now remember this is the 100 )

Well, I feel like an idiot now. :-[

I kept at this and finaly got it figured out. For me anyways, the Sammy100 doesnt need hardly any slack in the line. Completely different from the Spook jr. ( im sure others can make it work just great with more slack line, but I sure couldnt.. I was about ready to hang it from my rearview mirror  )

Im glad I got a pool to ' practice ' with my lures

I am glad you got it figured out. Do you think it might have something to do with the knot you are using to tie on??

Tex, no it wasnt the knot. It was the amount of ' slack ' line I had out.
No matter what knot , line, or rod I was useing I couldnt get it to walk the dog.

That was until I finaly noticed, when I had very little slack line, it would work. ( I had a palomar knot on when I discovered this ) Now, when I walk the dog with a Spook jr. I have to have more slack in the line.

To be honest I can work it better fastat this time. ( walk the dog ) I have been going to the pool and practicing everyday trying to get better at it. ( in fact a few times a day for about 10 minutes each time )

Sure helps having a pool about 30 feet from my back door lol
