ST. PETERSBURG -- Kentucky Attorney General Gregory Stumbo was rescued Monday morning after his fishing boat ran aground on a sand bar in Tampa Bay, stranding him overnight, authorities said.
Stumbo, 54, who was not hurt, was reported missing by his wife after he did not return to a marina Sunday night as planned, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said. He left about 6 p.m. to scout fishing locations in a 23-foot Hydrosport powerboat.
Stumbo spokesman Corey Bellamy said the attorney general had talked to someone on his staff and "he's fine."
