The weather warmed to the 50's yesterday so I took a buddy who hasn't fished in years to the river to fish from the bank. Seeing that the lake is still froze. We fished for about 2 hours and caught 13 smallies. They were all decent fish, 14" and up. The best part of the evening was that he caught the biggest one of them, it was about 18" probably 3#. The river was high and the current was strong so we were fishin close to the bank. It was a good evening especially being the first time out in the new year.

ive only caught 1 smallie and it was maybe a pound with a couple of 1 oz weights shoved up....well you get the idea. Didnt even try to just messin around, it was in new river in jacksonville nc i didnt even think smallies were that far south but i was wrong. They had stripers there too, caught a few of those really fun to catch, that was the good times when i was actually in Lejeune and not in some crappy third world desert where people were tryin to kill me.
