Im sure this has been discussed but whats the real difference between the fish elite eagle units and the lowrance lms units. Looking at a Eagle 640C seems to be $100 bucks cheaper and pretty much the same unit as a LMS-520C. Are you just paying for the name?

well for one.. the lowrance has quite a bit higher resolution. Lowrance has 480x480 and the Eagle 500C has 320x240 The difference there is quite substantial. The higher resolution means better definition on the screen and the increases your ability to tell whats below you alot. The Eagle 640C has the best resolution of the 3 at 640x480

The next difference is the Eagle, both of them, have only 256 colors and the Lowrance is 16bit colors aka more than 16 million colors. Again... better definition with the lowrance due to its color range.

Other than that I dont know enough about these things yet to tell what is better or not. The Eagle 640 definitely has a nicer price tag. Hopefully Jim and Oldschool will chime in and shed some light on this for us :)

You are comparing two different size units, the Eagle is 640V X 480H screen unit verses the Lowrance 480V X 480H.
Eagle is produced from obsolete Lowrance components for the discount market.
The Elite 640c is basically the Lowrance LMS-19c with a little less power. Lowrance offers full service and warranty with their name brand products and a limited warranty with the Eagle brand.
The LMS-520c is the upgraded version of the LMS-332c, 480V X 480H unit. The upgrades are net work connections, antenna and internal chip memory.
Lowrance offers annual updates for the name brand products for the cost of shipping and very good customer service. Eagle products are repaired by Lowrance for a service fee. The products are good, it's just top of the line, state of the art verse last years technology at a lower price.

I thought they where just different divisions but same product. I see that the Lowrance 480x480 (125) has slightly higher watts of power and 900 foot depth capability as compared to 1500 watts on mine and 800 feet depth capability. I bought a Eagle Fishmark 480 and it is 480x480 just like the Lowrance 125.

However the unit I got was quit a bit less then the Lowrance 125 so it was worth it to me.

Here is what I bought: http://www.eaglegps.com/Products/Sonar/FishMark480.htm

Compared to the Lowrance: http://www.boatersland.com/lowx125.html

Well boys, looks like daddy got a new toy. :dance01:

My wife ( God bless her ) got me the Eagle Fish Elte 500C.
2 of the guys in my club have the same unit, so after talking to them, she got it for me. ( was suppose to get it for me on that special invite Sunday at BPS. But they didnt have it in stock, so they got it from another store.. Got my triple bonus points, plus an extra 500 from the event on Sunday... They honored it for me )

We picked it up today and Al and I installed it this afternoon. He gave me a crash course, but I done forgot what he said. :cussin: Got to thumb the manual a bit tonight for my tournament tomorrow :cool2:

I wont look a gift horse in the mouth so I wont be complaining about the unit I got.( beats what I had ) :D
