Although I may have been fishing forever, my reels are serviced once a year by a professional and I just keep them clean and oiled. Break Free CLP is a very good reel lubricant. Most problems occur when people use WD-40 solvent or "water displacement" for a lubricant, which it is not!

Thanks guys for the ideas. I have heard about Hot Sauce before but never tried it. I will get some and see if that makes a difference.

Keith, It will cost you somewhere between $7 to $15 to have your reel serviced and the line changed, do it!!
