Cold, Cold, Cold, Cold, Cold

Was on the water at Clarks Hill this morning and guess what? It was cold. At the ramp the temp. was 25 and ice all over it. Wind blowing 15+ makes wind chill around zero. Eyes on the rod were iced as was the reel. Even when the sun came out it was not until about 10 that everything stopped freezing! If you threw a jig and put it down it froze. And the water? Was as dirty as Livingston in Texas (Hersey) in the spring and was 44 degrees.

Fun morning. We will see how the tourney goes tomorrow.

After the turnover there is no thermocline. Water is like air, warm rises. The warmest water is near the surface where the sun can warm it. I especially like dirty water as t warms fastest. However, right now, stained is better, as the sun has not been out enough to warm the dirty water. Hershey brown, COLD water is the worst possible condition. I will be fishing stained tomorrow rather than dirty, we will see.
