CLARKS HILL IS 1.18 FEET OVER FULL, 42 DEGREES AND STAINED

Bass fishing is slow. Cold weather has put a damper fishing again this week. Early, go to the jig and pig and add a pork trailer. Then mid day, go to the mid lake creek mouths and use a small spoon and drop it to the bottom starting in 22 feet of water and go deeper to 40 feet. With the water being so cold, fish will be holding tight to brush piles and any form of wood that is available near the channels. Try locating these fish with Lowrance Structure Scan and then back off and try throwing a small ¼ ounce jig or a 4 to 4 and 1/2 inch Texas rigged finesse worm right at the target. The red shad color finesse worm is a good cold water color. Add a glass rattle in the baits and be sure to add some Jack’s Juice in the bag. As with any southern lake this time of the year, slow cranking for suspended bass will always work. If you see a big school, get a spoon to them and use short hops off the bottom.
