Today Gotstafish held a contest. He asked a question and the person with the correct answer won a prize. The question he is asked was what year did the first issue of Bassmasters get released. Well that got me thinking and I decided to dig that issue out of my collection and scan it for you all who may interested in seeing it.

This is one of the most prized magazines in my fishing magazine collection, second only to the magazines with my buddy Bryan Kerchal in them.

With a read of that page, I'd definitely say that BASS has achieved its goals. :clap:

Just out of curiosity, how much was the subscription back then ??

believe it or not it was 10 dollars for a year and 25 for 3 years. Almost the same it still is today almost 40 years later

You are correct, 1 yr was $10, 2 yrs $ 18.50 and 3 for $25. The magazine had 6 issues bimonthly. I tried to sell my Bassmaster magazines last year on E bay, very little response and ended up giving the years 1975 to 2005 away and kept the originals up to 1974. I was moving and no place to store them. BASS life member since '69.

I had a hell of a collection that I lost in a house fire in 1986. I got them from a local recycling center I worked at.

OMG! I wish I knew Id have loved to get my hands on them! I have that 68 issue, most from 72to 79, then 82 up to present but always looking for the ones I am missing.
