I just got back in. 12 hours on the water fighting the wind and 90 degree weather and i am wooped! Yep thats right, wind... 20mph probably. Though I thought of it and figured, it was probably best case to get familiar with my new boat on a windy day in rough water. Getting use to it on a glass surface wouldnt tell me half as much.

I did do a little fishing, but honestly, I spent more time floating and playing and running from one end of the lake to the other than I spent fishing... a whole lot more time running. I filled the boat back up after i left the lake and it took 20 gallons to fill her back up.

Half way through the day, my mother and my 10 yr old niece came to the landing and got on board. I spent a while running them around. My niece had never been in anything but a smaller boat with a 40 on the back of it. She is now in love with my boat and wants to go out more. I went up the lake to the hot hole and found some 82 degree water (nuclear power plant lake) and anchored so she could go swimming. She wanted me to get in too so I emptied my pockets, took my shirt off and jumped in. It felt great! However, I need to buy a folding ladder for my boat. Any recommendations? Ready for a laugh? When I got in t he water, it was easy but then as I tredded water I realized "hmm that boat side seems higher off teh water from t his perspective... I wonder..." and then I tried to get in... nope.. couldnt do it! LOL! There was nothing to grab onto on my boat, the edges are all soooo nicely rounded and glass smooth LOL

I had to teach my mom how to run the trolling motor so she could drag my niece and I too the shallow water so we could get in LOL My mom HATES the trolling motor. It kept spinning around on her and making her go in circles LOL SO... now I am gonna need a ladder. I figure not only for playing and swimming but for safety reasons it would definetly be a good idea.

Anyway, as far as fishing goes, nothing worth bragging about... like I said I spent most of my time playing and organizing and riding.. I had a BLAST! I am now red in the face, neck and arms. Partialy from sunburn and partially from windburn, most likely mostly the latter of the two.

The boat rides like a dream! I would say I am very comfortable behind the wheel now. She gets up on plane in a flash and handles the rough water well it seemed. I did notice that when you are holding the wheel of teh boat, rough water doesnt seem half as bad as when you are sitting in the passenger seat.

Right now I am going to get some dinner and then kick back in my recliner and become a total vegetable lol I was going to go back out tomorrow BUT I have to fix a leak in my radiator tomorrow instead. Cant have my truck dieing now that I have something nice to pull ;)

oh by the way... the unit that the dealership is installing IS a 520c not the 527.. I saw it on my paperwork this morning. Also, the Lowrance X48s I have.. SUCK!!!!!!!!!!! I had to turn em on and off half a dozen times everytime I either dropped the trolling motor and rode with the big motor because they wouldnt accurately tell the depth. The one up front likes the number 2.4ft and the one at the console loves to sit on 3.5ft. If i turned em on and off enough they would eventually so the right depth. :cussin:
Also the sensitivity adjustment on the X48 sucks! You cant adjust the read out of the depth or temp.. its large or super large thats it! :cussin: I noticed that the console unit had the transducer mounted in the hull and is a thru the hull type. Fortunately the console unit is getting replaced monday but I dont know what to do about the front unit. Gonna talk to the dealer, maybe the tranducer is just bad.. Im not sure, as I know very little about them. :dunno:

Anyway, Im wiped. Talk to you all in a couple hours most likely

Wal-mart should have a rope ladder that is made for boats, if they dont i know the wal mart down here still has a couple as a last resort. I figured out the hard way that gettin back in the boat is not as easy as gettin (or falling) off. The rope ladder was 20 bucks i think i just keep mine in the box and if i ever fish by my self i just take the box out and put it on the back deck. Dave

A Old fishing buddy of mine has a Triton, He bought after taking a test "ride" with a rep during a boat show in Texas, I watched from the bank, it is AWESOME!! Figure 8's wide open, full plane, hook the wheel, it sticks and turns. In the Near Future I'm sure you will be very proud of how your boat handles!

I've used the motor to get back on-board as the other BassHoles out there, works ok, just sucks when you have to use it with a HOOK stuck in your foot!!

:cussin:

Happy for you!!

Climb up the motor. Note to self, turn motor off first!! :rofl1: :rofl1:
Just stand on the foot of the motor and hit the trim button, it will lift you back in with no problems at all.
Just dont fall off when doing this...It does not feel to good on the shins...learned that the hard way...lol

OMG I feel like such a dope! I never thought of using the trim to lift me back up! LOL

I was so embarassed, there was a pontoon going to one of the docks not far from us and I made sure I kept my boat between them and myself so they couldnt see me and be like "what the heck is that ******* doing??" LOL! I kept thinking of when David Fritts fell overboard on camera and remembering how funny he looked trying to get back in... I feel for Fritts now LOL
