Last night a friend of mine came by to look at my boat. Now, I dont know the correct terms so you got to bare with me on things. :D

The bar you can put to hold your motor in place while driving ? I had it on there lastnight and my friend went to hit the trim button and the motor wouldnt go up ( to take the bar off ) So im thinking , great ! first my truck breaks down, now my trim isnt working. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. ( What else is gonna go wrong )

He took a screw driver and unscrewed the hydrolic plug, a dab came out, he put it back on and the trim worked. He said the bar was to long for it and had the motor to high and it developed an air bubble in it. He said he thought he had a shorter one he'd give me.

I got alot to learn about boats , Im glad I got alot of friends that have them so they can help me out. ( Plus my friends on here to help me :) )

I  believe the bar is called a Transom Saver :)   I think it may a good idea to take the boat in when you can afford to and have them bleed the hydraulic system good. It also may not be a bad idea to have them go over the whole boat thoroughly. Kind of like an inspection. This way if there is anything major wrong that the previous owner did a good job at hiding from the unknowing eye, they will be able to point it out to you. They will also be able to be sure you get the most out of your boat. :)

Is there such a thing as an affordable boat mechanic? My transom saver was to long also but it was a two piece job a male and female I took a hack saw and cut down the male end to make it shorter. Then when I up graded my boat my transom saver was to short. My dad always told me poor people have poor ways.

I found a really cheap boat mechanic. He really lightened my load! "For the life of me I couldn't figure out what THAT stupid thing was for, so I removed it. Everything seems ot be working now. I never did get it to do anything. If'n you decide it's necessary, come back and I'll put it back in for free." I later decided you gets what ya pays for. ;D
