Just got back home from my first night trip of 2007. Well, it was a partial late afternoon and partial or some night fishing. I started at 5:30pm and quit at 10:00pm.

I caught 12 bass and missed 3 more. I caught a nice 5.5lb bass which is my biggest at night here in Florida. I tried to take a picture of it and it came out horrible. Normally I use my front butt seat to set the camera on and go to the back of the boat. Or I use the passenger fishing seat and stand in the front. I took both seats out a while back when I have been tournament fishing. That means the only thing I have to prop the camera up on is my camera bag. I thought I had it lined up good and I took the picture. Once the flash went off I looked at the fish closely again and let her go. I wish I would have waited as my picture missed the fish :sad2: It only picked up a small portion of her. She was a good one and fought real hard.

I caught her and 8 more on a Hildebrandt Go-Getter black spinnerbait with a #5 Colorado blade. I add a trailer to it and this rig is my all time favorite night time lure. It just flat out catches fish at night. I boated 3 on a white swimming grub before the sun went down. I missed 3 on a lipless crank including one that was 3 maybe 4lbs.

Here is the sorry picture. This is the worst one I have ever snapped haha.

You can tell it is a nice fish just by the size of its gill plate.

Jared, I was fishing the same flats that have produced so well for me during the day lately. I started off around the pit and caught smaller fish along the grass edge. Then I moved to the flats and caught that fish. The others where in the 1.5-2.5lb range so nothing else had much size. But last night was beautiful. The wind laid down nicely and it was cool maybe 67 degrees? The stars where nice and bright. Thankfully it was real windy early as it kept the bugs at bay. When I fish at night I love to fish around submerged grass or grass edges. Right now is the best time to go for us southern boys. Bass are done spawning for the most part and Bream are up getting ready for their spawn and turnabout is fair play. Bass move in to eat the Bream. When I was in Texas May was the best month by far then June for night fishing.

Dave, is that Heddon a top water lure?

Hey now Bobby, leave my legs outta this :D

Nice fish Keith. Sounds like was very productive trip. Theres Nuttin like throwing a blade at nite when you cant see nuttin and your rod is doubled over. What I love about nite fishing is throwing a worm or jig and D#[email protected] bat hits your rod tip and not knowing what happedn to the fish when you set the hook.

Thanks AB. Yeah I saw a few bats flying around me. They actually hit my line when I am reeling in a spinnerbait as the line is buzzing. That is how good bats are. We got nothing on nature when it comes to sonar.
