Default Strike King Red Eye Shad: Sexy Shad

The lure that KVD has made famous has finally found a home in my tackle box. This lure looks awesome in the box it comes in but it looks even better in the water. KVD says that this lures looks natural in clear water as well as stained water, and he's 100% correct. It looks exactly like a shad as you retrieve it back in and it does shimmy when allowed to fall through the water column.

The only disadvantage that I found today with this lure is that when it gets gunk on it, it will not track right and will swim off to one side. With the precision used to make this bait do what it does, I understand why it fouls easily when gummed up.

I used a variety of retrieves today with this lure, including knocking it off rocks and yo-yoing the lure through the water column. When I first mentioned this lure on here, I said that someone had reported on Bass Pro's website that the paint job doesn't hold up very well. Well, I can say with 100% accuracy that this is not true. I banged this lure off some of the gnarliest stuff I could find today and the paint job is still as good as it was out of the package.

I would recommend this lure for anyone to use, especially if you live around lakes with vegatation. I felt that I was at a slight disadvantage due to the fact that Rocky Mountain does not contain vegetation anymore. If I am able to fish this in Nickajack or Guntersville, I believe that my catch percentage will go up highly.

Also, you do not need to change the hooks on this lure. They are high quality treble hooks that come very sharp out of the package. The only thing that I would recommend is perhaps changing the front hooks out to red. That is purely a confidence tactic that I offer up.

I fished this new sexyshad all summer, and never got bit, I honestly gave it a fair chance too, I like the color on it, but no luck yet, i"l try it again, but I think it might be thrown in my unused box of cranks.

There is a production run that does have paint issues.

I have several of them that the paint has basically fell off.

I do have others, different colors, that the paint is fine.....

These baits ROCK!!!

I have 4-5 ones that are beat up from riprap- they catch better than the fresh ones!

I've got about 15 of these, I like them real well, I use them in heavy stump areas, been good for quick limits.

The Sexy Shad and Chrome Sexy Shad work best in Florida, but the chrome comes off way too easily. I like the Xcalibur because it holds up better, has a better shimmy, and tracks better too.

I caught a ton of smallies and largemouths around the ottertail county section of MN last spring. In fact it was about the only bait producing with as windy and cold as it was in June. Definately a hot bait and probably my 2nd best producer behind the vibrashock. Vibration is great on these and they have a ton of flash. I used chrome shad or sexy shad. I also had one that was chrome blue back, but I could only seem to find in one store. I didn't even see the color listed on the strike king website.
