Default HDS Simulator options

One of the things I like to do is record my fishing days in areas where I have few or no wpts. Then I watch them on the puter to see what is there. If it looks good I put the card back in the unit and run the simulator using chart/2d sonar/l&r side scann/down scan. That way I can look at everything at once and be sure I get the stuff marked that I want.
Today I went out and was reviewing the last fishing trip. I had watched it for about 45 minutes marking stuff when the screen blinked and HDS screen came up listing all the hds units available, then on came a simulation that is a demo.

When I stopped it and restarted my recording it started at the beginning. Frustrated I turned it off and here I am asking questions.

1. Can I delete the demo files without bothering the functioning of the simulator? Is so what is the process?

2. How can I start and stop a simulation and move the cursor so I don't have to sit through all the repeat stuff?

3. Also my recording stopped after about 7 hours so I assume that there is a file limitation size since I have a 16g card.

I talked with James at Low today. It seems that in the simulator mode one has to be sure and turn off DEMO before loading a file from an sd card or demo will override it and show all kinds of commercials as well as simulate a lake in OK.

Now all I need is a working FF button so I don't have to spend so much time waiting from one area to another.

I hope Todd or Doc sees this and has the answer to FF.

You cannot delete the demo files. Like you were told, you can turn the demo mode to off in the simulator setup menu. With the demo mode set to off this will not happen.

If you are running the log in simulator mode there is no way to fast forward or reverse the log file. Of course, you have the sonar log viewer (similar to the computer version) built into the HDS, but it does not have the ability to view the chart or save waypoints.

The file size limit for a sonar log file is 2GB. After that limit is reached a new log will need to be started.

Yep that is what I am finding. So I guess I'll have to set an alarm on my phone so I can reset the log every hour or so because I can't stand to sit in the boat for hours and hours waiting to see something which needs to be marked.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts Todd.

I have 2 options for reviewing files on the HDS reviewing logs for impatient people like me. Let them play in the simulator and then use the left arrow to go back in history, review the history, let it run again and review the new history. I let it run and then multitask!!
You can use the HDS viewer to FF. Pages/utilities/my files/logs/sonar Press ENTER and the viewer displays the file. You can use the FFWD button but I use the left or right arrow buttons to go really fast.

Doc my setup is in the boat so my multi tasking is kind of limited. If I let it run and come back do you know how far back I can go in history?

I use the sonar viewer on the computer but don't know of a way except pencil and paper to get coordinates and make wpts of things I missed while on the water. It would be nice if sonar viewer allowed all channels and let us see the chart like in the simulator.
......................

Is there a way to get the simulator of FF like the viewer?

When using the viewer is it possible to set wpts?

Jig Man,

It seems you need Drdepth BT + SS version. This can do all what you are asking ...

FF 2D sonar - Structurescan
Mark waypoints (all channels) with matching HDS icons
Export waypoints as USR-files
and much more ...

all the way with the HDS built in viewer

Danny's example photo is for side scan but it works for 2D sonar and DownScan, instead of using the pop up window to get the coordinates from the SonarViewer you can create a waypoint on the chart in DrDepth.

Is there a way to get the simulator of FF like the viewer? no
When using the viewer is it possible to set wpts? no,but you can with DrDepth BT SS
