Default 2 piece spinning rod

Hi everyone,
I need to get another spinning outfit for basic finesse fishing and light lures in general. I already have a one piece spinning rod I use, but this new rod I want to leave in my trunk so I always have something just in case I drive by a nice spot and have a couple minutes! Or for traveling. Is the 2 piece a bad idea, or will it give you similar performance as a one piece rod? I have my eyes on a Shimano Sahara combo as it is pretty inexpensive. Thanks for opinions...

Alot of people like a 2 piece rod and never have any problems at all. I had a problem once with one, and never used a 2 piece after that. ( It came apart on a cast )

2 piece used to be a bad idea with the metal ferrules. Now they aren't much different than a one piece. I have a 2 piece just for traveling in my wife's jeep so it can stay out of the way and not get broken.

I use 2 and 1 piece rods. Like them both, but a 2 piece will come apart sometimes while casting.

Thats the problem I have with a 2 piece, you do have to check them occasionally or they will come apart on a cast. Other than that I would say they are fine. I dont use them, but I know a lot of people who do, and they like them.

I used 2 piece Spinning Rods almost exclusively for years, for the exact reason you're stating....ease of transportation.
I still have a bunch of them that I use for Panfishing and Walleye fishing, and carry one or two 2 piece Bass rods in the boat still.
They work just fine. Just remember to check the connection every once in a while and you'll be good to go...

Thanks for replies...
I bought a Shamano combo on sale. It came with a Sahara 2500 reel and some type of rod: Shimano 52NSILITE. I figured the rod would be decent since its Shimano. I was wrong. It can't cast at all. It has nothing to do with it being a 2-piece, cuz I have had other ones that could still cast, but jeez, this is bad. So I basically just bought the reel full price, which I guest is fine, cuz the reel is great. I guess I won't mind this rod sitting in my trunk, it will be for emergencies only.
