Default Plaster Molds Help ?

I made a few more Plaster molds and I seen somewhere that someone mentioned thinning out the epoxy with Acetone. I was wondering if you can use paint thinner instead of Acetone. I also heard on a forum you could use high gloss spray paint, has anyone ever tried the high gloss paint ? My current plaster molds are sealed with Mod Podge but they have to be resealed every now and then. Thanks for any info.

What are you thinning epoxy for? Are you trying to seal the mold after making them? Elmers glue thinned with water is what I have used.

Yeah the epoxy is to seal the molds. What is the glue to water ratio for that method ? Do you brush it on or just pour it in and drain the extra ? I really appreciate your help Beer, thanks in advance.

Flood the cavities with a mix of water and elmer's white glue...start with 1 part water and 3 parts glue...milky consistency...spread the glue over all mold surfaces to seal with a small paintbrush...let it remain in the cavities for a couple of minutes..swish it back and forth to ensure good coverage... drain excess by shaking the mold...after the glue dries it's ready for a test pour...sometimes a second coat is needed...if you have bubbles in your pours you can apply more glue in only those cavities by flooding or with an artists brush. You can also fill in imperfections with the glue wash.

Yup, what he said. I use Elmer's Glue-All.
