YUP! You are absolutely correct Beer980... A lot of the guys are now having to use very precisely callibrated electronic scales to measure out their crayon colours because of the lack of consistency due to crayons being very rich/strong in colour. A few shavings too much and the whole batch will most likely be a completely different colour to the previous one.
Also most if not all recipes use colourant so it's almost impossible to replicate those exact colours using crayons, unless of course you have the time to exepriment which inevitably results in having to waste plastic... So where you might have saved on colourant you end up spending on plastic. Sort of a 'catch-22' scenario...
Fair enough if you are just casting baits for your personal enjoyment and not trying to copy or duplicate an existing colour then I suppose it's all right. Then again lets say you discover a colour that's increased your strike rate, how would you achieve that exact mix again?
