Default An Odd (?) Observation

When I initially inject either my worm mold or my kodiak the results are fine. When I inject again after reheating, the majority of the time the worms/craws don't come out properly or even at all sometimes.

Because of this, I use the reheats to handpour after I've completed the initial injection. So I'm not wasting any plastic, but I would definitely like to continue injecting (especially the craws b/c I only get one per pour).

Is this typical, or am I doing something wrong. Your feedback would be helpful. Thanks!!!

Steve I believe Jared had this same problem. I'm not positive but I think that the resolution was that it needed to be reheated a little hotter.

Yep Steve make sure you are heating the plastic enough. I do reheats all the time. You will find some people say to put alittle fresh plastic in them, personally I dont. I have no problems just heat it up to 350 make sure it is at 350 and it will do what you want it to. Hopefully this helps. (this is where a digital thermometer comes in handy)
Thanks
Mike

Yeah Steve does sound like a heat problem. How hot are you getting it when you reheat? I had to bring my plastic up to almost 370.
Ive never had that happen before but it does happen once in a while it appears

I agree on the reheat. I have to do it all the time. When I am making my itty bitty spec baits I sometimes have to do as many as half a dozen reheats.

Some plastics don't take well to being reheated so heat stabilizer and a good infared thermometer are worth the investment.

Yeah on reheats once its cooled and set I always go to 350. Then once its been heated and its just bringing back up to temp I will lower it alittle. Thats just what works for me but initial heat is always 350.

Keeping an eye on the heat does seem to be the key. I admit I've gotten lazy about it as of late.

Here's another dumb question: What happens if the plastic gets too hot?

It burns Steve lol....

My thinking is, doing small amounts of plastic by micro ( 4 ounce range ) will allow it to cool faster, thereby making you have to reheat for almost every injection.

I have also adapted Tyler's small amount of injection. I take the tip off, full plunger back and pour it straight into the tube. Then replace tip, and push pluger till I get the air out. Then inject.

I also rely heavily on my candy thermometer ( I also stir with it )
