Let me clarify on what I mean by flipping jigs............I am lumping all jigs that are not finesse jigs and are not hair jigs, into this category.  Therefore, all the jigs that are fished around rocks, weeds, wood, etc., as well as the football head jigs.

For me, give me a flipping jig and a plastic trailer, and I know that I can put fish in the boat, anytime of the year.  These are honestly my strongest strength, and I love flipping and pitching jigs all day.  It's hard to turn them down, too, when you know that the fish are tight to cover.   Thumbs Up!

I tried to vote but your only allowed to check one item.  So I will give you my answer here.

I fish any and all jigs.  I don't have a preference.  They all work great for me.

Now as far as trailers go, only plastic for me.

I just voted and I was able to do both of the choices.   dont know

I just checked it out, and I had it set to 2 choices.   Thumbs Up!  You should be able to choose both that you want, and then hit submit.  Or maybe we found another bug in the system.

There is no telling what might be going on.   rofl  Maybe Buster knows you like jigs and you have caught too many of his cousins, and he won't let you vote fully.   rofl

I'm with Tex.  I'm a jig fanatic, and use all of them at one time or another.  In fact, I'll go so far as to say that if you can only carry one type of lure, make it jigs.

Flippin jigs like Thunderstruck and Strike King. As far as trailers, plastic almost always- KidLizard for the bulk, Strike King XXX chunks for just about everything else.

Why group everything into two categories that are not related?
The primary difference with jigs (lead heads) is each presentation technique can require a specific head and hook design, there isn't one size fits all conditions.
You maybe able to separate jigs into two categories; vertical and horizontal presentations.
Vertical being flipping and pitching a jig to a close target and letting the jig fall straight down through the water column.
Horizontal being casting a jig to any likely looking spot and retrieving the jig back.
The earliest lead heads were ball heads with either marabou feathers or hair. The ball head evolved into the banana head, then the football head, then the Arkie style head with 60 degree bend hooks to allow space for a weed guard. The Arkie head was followed by the stand up styles, the bullet grass heads and what is known today as the poison head.
My own design jig head is a modified football made into a viper shaped head that allows the head to both stand up and go through rocks easily and dates back to 1971. Football heads date back into the 50's, round and banana heads at least back to 1900's.
The easiest to use and most effective jig for general use is the spider jig; ball or stand up style head and grub combination that has a soft plastic skirt; Yamamoto Hula grub, both single and twin tails.
The most common flipping or pitching jig is the Arkie style weedless jig head with a silicone or live rubber skirt and pork or soft plastic frog.
Both the spider and Arkie jigs should be in every bass fishermans bag of lures.
Being a jig specialist my preference is the jig N pig combination; my own jig head with either multiple colored silicone or hair skirts. My preference is to cast jigs 90% of the time and only pitch a jig occasionally.

I use jigs probably 90% of the time.  I don't have a preference as to which type to throw.  I use them all.  Different times of the year, different water and wind conditions make some of them produce better than others.  Sometimes I use a trailer and sometimes I don't but when I do it is always plastic.

The one thing I can tell you is we all have our own style of fishing jigs. what works for me may not work for you.
The type of jig I use and my technique depends on the area and lakes I am fishing. we have some clear lakes like table rock and Truman that can get pretty dirty.

Tail Walker Pro Football Jigs

Jerry Schlueter

Jerry, your jig is a vertical style jig for flipping or pitching, good looking product. The problem with that design for casting is the space between the hook point and eye is too short, IMO, for a good hooking percentage when casting the jig horizontally. You may catch smaller bass casting that style of jig, but with the big bass your chances are very low to get a good hook set.  I realize that 90% or more of todays bass fishermen fish jigs vertically and your jig should work great for that presentation. Where I fish, the lakes are extremely clear and the bass are highly pressured, so you must cast 75+ feet, unless fishing at night.
The hook point needs to find something to penetrate inside the basses mouth when they bite down on it, or you will never know you are bit.
Every jig fisherman should give a good pork trailer a try, you are missing a chance to catch the big bass in your lake.
