Default Ebay Chronarchs & Rod Recommendations

I bought 4 Chronarchs (older models) off of Ebay this evening (596.00). I think I come out pretty good but would love some input. All the reels looked flawless and three of the dealers had 100% while one had 99.3 or something? I am going to sell 5 rods including a carrot stix and some other reels (1 Trion, 1 Revo, 1 Chronarch) to offset these costs. I intend on having a tournament arsenal and want to dress these with Kistler or Gloomis rods. Would like some input on action and type of rods for these reels as well.

I bought 2 of these from this guy today. These are the gold chronarchs one for 167 the other 217 (someone got mad)

Description:

THIS IS A SWEET OFFERING OF A LEGENDARY REEL.

LASTLY this one for 217.50

This auction is for a hardly USED Shimano Chronarch bait casting reel. Iíve had this reel for a couple years now but only used it a few times a few years ago. I spooled it up with 20# test and used it one summer for a few days and havenít used it since. This one is in excellent condition with all the writing on the reel and none of the paint missing from the lettering. I always backed off the drags on every reel after each fishing trip. The reel is smooth and quiet and everything works perfectly. It also comes with the original box and paperwork.

Features include strong, lightweight one piece aluminum frame, aluminum spool, oversized power handle, convient QuickFire ll clutch bar and easy spool access, Variable Brake System, low profile shape, 5 stainless steel ball bearings, Super Stopper anti-reverse 1-way roller bearing, 6.2:1 retrieve ratio, and 21Ē of line recovery per handle turn. It holds 130 yds of 12 lb. line and has a total weight of 7.9 ozs.

Rebeav,

Here is my opinion on the Chronarchs you bought. As far as a quality reel you got a very good reel as far as performance and components. The SF is a little heavier but is very reliable. I have two that I use also and love them. The five bearings in the reel are located where they actually have an affect on the performance. Two are spool bearings, one under the handle shaft, one on the end of the worm gear and the Roller Clutch Bearing. The reel is smooth and casting distance is good. Super Tuning the reel will make the reel smmoother and will add distance to the cast. Now as far as a good deal, it depends on your pricing. You said you paid $596 for the reels but when you total the individual cost you list for each one , it comes to $777.50. If you paid $596 and depending on the shipping cost, I think you got a fair deal. If you paid $777.50, I would say that is not a very good deal. You can buy the Chronarch SF new for around $229. Again this is my opinion, but either way if you take care of the reels and have them serviced as they should be, they will last you many many years and will be very dependable.

I got a so so deal it was 195 ea price. I just don't like the new ones. The SF was 225 brand new back when they were on the shelves. I have one of the SF already and 3 of the others already that I like. I have 2 trions, 1 president, 1 revo as well to go along with these I just purchased. I am leaning towards having them "supertuned" but I don't know if I can stand to part from them. Depends on turnaround etc.

That is still a good deal, You figure you saved around $140 and got the reels you like and practically new. A Chronarch is very good dependable reel. Super Tuning is the way to go. Talk to CaptainMo or Fish4Fun or some of the others that have Super Tuned reels or check some of the comments on my site. Turn around time will only be a few days after I receive them. I will be out of town the first of next week so if you send them on Monday, they will be here by Thursday 3/26 when I get home and I can get right on them. I will have them completed and ready on Monday 3/30).

I'd recommend the Gloomis IMX 844c and 843c as 2 of your rod choices.

I'll take care of you Rebeav, You will be very pleased with how the reels turn out once they have been cleaned and super tuned. Just let me know when you are sending them so I can be watching for them. Turn around time is still very good, so you won't be without them long.

Lol I forgot all about this post and you did just that my friend. Now how much do you think those reels that I sent could garner and could I let people know that you super tuned them when I get ready to sell?

Now that they have been serviced and super tuned, I think you should be able to get more than you paid for them.
