Default Lazy Ike

Lazy Ike started business in the late 1930's...but even so...there isn't much demand for their older lures.

That said...a much more modern lure they made can be...called the Natural Ike.

These lures were the very 1st lures with "natural / photo-finish" paint patterns. Other companies like Heddon, Bagley, Bomber and others were scrambling afterwards to produce similar paint jobs

Russell Lewis states in the 8th Edition of Old Fishing Lure Collectables that these were only made from 1980-1982.

I know this isn't correct...as I've seen mention of them in a November 1977 issue of Field & Stream...and in 2 more issues in early 1978.

I also purchased some directly from the company in 1986.

That said...see the attached pic

Thanks folks...and you're welcome

AlBasser was kind enough to point out that Heddon had done some lures starting in 1975 with somewhat life-like colors {thanks Robert}

That said...the Natural Ikes also had a much more realistic body shape...Lexan lips...and a body made of a foam plastic versus a hard plastic. The largest weighs close to 3/4 oz with a belly weight.

I am including a scan of a Field & Stream article from June 1978 that you folks might find interesting

Other than these pristine ones...I still have a few of them in my fishable stuff
