Why Nitro?

May test the water and trade in on a more current boat. Considering Nitro, Skeeter, Ranger, Champion, and Bass Cat. Why should I go with another Nitro?

I am a former Nitro Owner and I will be honest, you get what you pay for. I have a different boat that is similar as in 150 HP and 18'6". The best part about the Nitro was the price. For about 8-10k you can save by going with a Nitro over Ranger, Skeeter and Champion.

I will say this, the Nitro I loved the compartment layout. However, in rough water and I am only talking 2-3 ft waves; it had a horrible ride. The boat I have now handles it much better.

I am not knocking Nitro, but when you decide on what you want make things that are priority to you matter most. Only you know what it is, for most it was money. For me the boats I was looking at money only mattered at the end. The thing that matter the most to me was storage, I was limited on the size by how big the garage is. I could have bought a 21 footer with a 300 HP motor. However, it wouldn't fit and would have to sit outside in the weather with a cover to protect. Not how I wanted to treat an investment like that.
90% of how a boat rides the rough is the operator knowing his or her hull and how to run it in the rough. Every hull type likes to run differently in the rough stuff. ;)

I haven't looked lately but for a long time Nitro was the fastest depreciating boat on the market. If I were considering one, I'd pick a model and look it up on the NADA for a period of at least 5 years and see how the resale value holds up.
This only works if you compare the used prices in the right way. If you buy a $70,000 Skeeter and then buy a $50,000 Nitro , keep them for 5 years and then see what they are worth. Yes the Nitro is going to be worth less but the Skeeter also started out $20,000 high in the beginning. I bet after the 5 years the Skeeter won't still be $20,000 more than the Nitro. You have to figure the percentage lost from new to used not how much each is worth used. You also have to figure how much more interest you are going to pay on that $70,000 as apposed to the $50,000 over the 5 years. The Nitro will hold it's value just as well when you figure percentage price drop. ;)

Buy what you like. They are all in some kind of rebound these days.Nitro is a good boat in every way.

BUT AS WAS SAID BEFORE: This isn't about a bashing, but about ea. persons own personal experiences with whatever boat they have owned and kelp or traded.Resale and Trade in are never constant from yr. to yr.But if someone asks about a Nitro on a Nitro Thread please lets keep it about that only. That's why I started the other Sub-Boards.

Please keep all topics on the Boat Brand in the discussions.
Thanks

You're kidding right? I never bash anything only doing a comparison. :dunno:
