Default polar bear hair

I have been thinking about adding polar bear hair to my jigs but have been reading that it is illegal, is this true? if so why can you still buy it? Anyone know whats up with this

Allright I did some digging and this is what I found. This is kind of a quote but I will spell all the words correctly so here it is. Polar bear hair is available in limited supply. All hair is legal if taken prior to marine mammal act of 1972. Nothing compares to its movement and sheen. That is what I found on a website when I googled polar bear hair jigs

It's always been my understanding that polar bear hair is actually hollow. It'd be interesting to see how trapped air in each hollow strand reacts under water.
